The gods of the world are not mere myths or legends; they exist, unbeknownst to humans, fighting their battles and laying waste to land and life. Sixteen-year-old high school student Godou Kusanagi travels to Italy at the request of his grandfather to return a particular tablet to an acquaintance named Lucrezia Zora. Little does he know that he will be drawn into a battle between two Heretic Gods alongside the demonically manipulative sword-mistress Erica Blandelli. After defeating the god of war, Verethragna, in mortal combat, Godou becomes a Campione, or “God Slayer.” His duty is to fight heretical gods who manipulate reality at the expense of people in the area.

However, being a Campione comes with its challenges. Godou’s status attracts attention and difficult girls, including Erica, who strongly professes her love for him. Every time he fights a god, he shares a kiss with one of the girls he has brought with him.

The anime series follows Godou as he tackles dueling deities in a conflict between Heaven and Earth. It’s filled with action, comedy, fantasy, and harem elements as Godou navigates his newfound role as a Campione .
